I began my journey with the firm as a Graduate Intern and then went on to do a traineeship with the firm. As a trainee you are given a considerable amount of responsibility in file management and it really gives you an insight as to what life after training will be like. This responsibility may seem daunting at first but senior staff adopt an open-door policy which allows trainees to learn at ease at the beginning of their careers. During my training contract I have had the opportunity to work in both the Limerick and Dublin office. I am lucky to have met amazing people whilst working here and this, coupled with a fast pace environment, intense on the job training and practical learning opportunities, has given me the confidence I need in starting my career.
Kellie Daniels, Trainee Solicitor
HOMS Solicitors is a great place to train if you want to get plenty of hands-on experience of managing files, particularly in the area of litigation. Trainees are given a lot of responsibility and therefore become skilled at drafting and issuing court documents, communicating with clients, as well as preparing for and running trials.
I train in our Dublin office. The senior staff are all very approachable and a lot of the Limerick and Cork based partners and solicitors pop in and out of the Dublin office quite regularly. Everyone helps each other out, including our colleagues in the Limerick and Cork offices, which leads to a great sense of collegiality.
As a trainee you are expected to work hard when you are in the office, but there is also a strong “work-life balance” culture at the heart of the firm which is invaluable.
