Shane Costelloe is an Associate Solicitor in our corporate and commercial department and joined the firm in 2012.

Specialising in employment law, Shane advises corporate clients on all aspects of employment law including contentious and non-contentious matters. Shane assists clients in drafting employment contracts, contractor agreements and HR policies and procedures. He provides ongoing support to HR managers in relation to internal reorganisations and rationalisations, lay off, short-time, redundancies, terminations, audits of employment-related documentation and the transfer of undertakings. He regularly represents employers in employment disputes including applications for injunctions, actions for unfair dismissal and all claims under employment legislation before the Workplace Relations Commission, the Labour Court and the civil courts.

Having also trained as a corporate lawyer, Shane has extensive experience in the drafting of commercial agreements, advising on general corporate matters and corporate transaction advices including mergers & acquisitions. He has a strong commercial and financial background as a result of a role with an international accountancy firm.

Shane acts for plcs, SMEs, multi-national private corporate clients, statutory bodies, international and domestic insurance companies and financial institutions.

Holmes O'Malley Sexton has particular expertise in the education sector, where the team represents a number of universities, but also acts for a range of state and semi-state bodies and statutory corporations. The practice has advised on judicial review proceedings, disputes in the public sector, complaints and investigations, and public procurement issues. Based in the firm's Limerick and Dublin offices, managing partner Harry Fehily has extensive experience of judicial reviews and regulatory investigations, while Pat McInerney regularly acts for public bodies in litigation, including professional negligence, defamation, breach of contract and property-related cases.

Based across the firm's offices in Dublin, Limerick and Cork, the 'strong' team at Holmes O'Malley Sexton is especially active in M&A transactions, although it also advises on corporate investments, group restructurings, joint ventures and corporate governance. The team counts major domestic companies among its clients, particularly in the engineering and construction, healthcare, aviation, and food and agribusiness sectors.
