I’m starting my eighth year here, having joined the firm as a trainee in April 2012. As an Associate Solicitor in Corporate and Commercial, my day to day job involves advising on corporate mergers & acquisitions, equity investments, company law, commercial agreements and shareholder matters. I have a very varied workload, not only in terms of legal work but also in areas of team management, business development, strategy, talent development and presentations to new and existing clients.
The development of expertise is always a focus within the firm, but one of the standout experiences for me has been my participation on a leadership training course, delivered by consultancy firm Ingenium but funded and supported by the firm as part of our 2020 Strategy. The encouragement of the firm to develop as a lawyer and business leader has been instrumental in my professional development.
The most surprising and enjoyable aspect of a career here is the amount of non-work related activities happening all the time. Participation in the Great Limerick Run, working with local charity groups and helping to organise the multiple social events for the office are a few that spring to mind. Just a few examples of the positive experiences which have helped to develop a really great work environment.
Shane Costelloe, Associate Solicitor, Corporate and Commercial
I joined the firm in 2016, having previously trained and worked in Corporate at William Fry. As a Senior Associate in Corporate and Commercial, I specialise in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and other corporate transactions such as venture capital fundraisings. I also provide commercial advisory services in relation to contracts and corporate structures.
I really enjoy the fast-paced, transactional nature of my work and dealing with clients of different scales across a range of industries. On a daily basis, I can work with everything from international engineering firms to local tech start-ups. It is also exciting and unique to have the opportunity to work in a number of different cities. Working in a team-based work environment is very important to me and we work in collaborative team environments which encourages you to participate in and contribute to the strategy and growth of the firm. It’s also great to be involved in activities outside of work, such as inter-firm soccer tournaments, networking, socials and employee fitness programmes.
