Working with Headway Ireland, our Charity Partner

Last Wednesday, 25th September 2019, Robert Bourke, Partner, and Solicitors Sarah Falvey, Rachael O’Shaughnessy and Sean Fitzgerald met at the Headway Ireland office in Limerick, to present a cheque to Kieran Loughran, CEO of Headway, and Rella Galvin, Rehabilitation Manager. Our team raised over €6,800 for Headway. This will assist Headway in opening their “Wellness Vault” to deliver holistic therapies and relaxation areas.

We are honoured to partner with the charity Headway and we look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.

Headway provides services and support to victims of brain injury and their families to help them on their road to recovery to live their best life.

Our team delivered an information seminar to the families and victims of brain injury at the event. Robert Bourke commented:

“Working together as a team is integral to us at Holmes O’Malley Sexton, and the Regeneron Great Limerick Run is also particularly important to us every year as a national, yet Limerick based, event. This year, we wanted to support Headway Ireland for the incredible work they do, and many of us in the office have seen the remarkable work supporting people affected by stroke or brain injury.”

Sarah Falvey provided information about how to alleviate the stress to victims of brain injury and their families through various supports. Rachael O’Shaughnessy spoke about medical negligence and periodic payment orders. Sean Fitzgerald, industrial accident and diseases expert outlined how Ireland, since emerging from the recession, has unfortunately seen a substantial increase in industrial accidents in construction, agriculture and manufacturing.

Almost 50 of our team ran and walked for Headway Ireland in the 2019 Regeneron Great Limerick Run. Thank you to all our team who took part in the Great Limerick Run and for taking part in other fundraising events for Headway throughout the year including the Bake for Brain Injury Awareness Week Coffee Morning and the Rail Sale (clothing donated by staff) where we raised almost €500 for Headway Ireland. This cheque was presented separately to Headway previously at our office in Limerick.

The presentation was followed by some questions and answers by the families and the victims of brain injury where we then enjoyed a chat over some tea and coffee afterwards. We were surprised and delighted to be presented with a thoughtful gift from the attendees. Kieran Loughran the CEO of Headway also commented that:

“Headway are delighted to have Holmes O’Malley Sexton on board as their charity partner. It is fantastic to have such a large, well established and reputable organisation rooting for us and supporting us to continue to deliver specialist rehabilitation services to people with acquired brain injury in the Mid-West Region. Our aim is to help rebuild life after brain injury by supporting those affected to make the most of their potential, improve their quality of life and their level of independence. Each person is unique as is each brain injury so all services are individually tailored based on needs and goals for recovery. The funds raised will help us deliver vital therapeutic services to those affected by brain injury to help them lead their best life.”
