Congratulations to Nicola Hackett, Kellie Daniels, Aoife Coughlan, Siobhain Phayer, and Neil O’Doherty who qualified this month and to all our graduates and trainees who are flying through their Fe -1 and PPC exams.

Massive congratulations to everyone for their hard work, commitment and achievements.

Industry Experts

We have continued to provide leading industry insights within business, legal and client communities at various events during the last six months, including Robert Bourke, Partner, presenting at the MidWest Lean Conference, the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association Dublin Conference and our brain injury information sessions, as well as various other engagements.

Pat McInerney, Partner spoke on employment law at the Bank of Ireland and Shannon Chamber of Commerce business breakfast in Shannon. The presentations discussed employee welfare, BOI’s new bank at work package, mandatory retirement and pension concerns.

Lisa Killeen, Partner in Banking and Finance, spoke at the launch of KBC Business Banking in Limerick on 22nd October 2019. Lisa spoke about “Keys to Success in Bank Funded Transactions” and was joined at the event by speakers Austin Hughes, Chief Economist at KBC, and John Madigan of Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland.

Michael Murphy, Partner, spoke on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) at the Irish chapter of the World Legal Summit in Dublin in August. In addition, he presented at the GDPR all day seminar at the Tech Connect Live, The RDS. Michael shared his expertise about data breach claims and how to defend them. Also recently invited by the Society of Young Solicitors to chair their Annual Conference, from 11th to 13th October 2019, Michael was joined by several different speakers who gave a variety of different perspectives on “Sustainability and the Environment from a Solicitor’s Perspective.” We are also delighted that Michael was a finalist for the “Lawyer of the Year” award in the 2019 Lincoln Recruitment Irish Early Career Awards.

The Family Law Arbitration Initiative on 5th December (organised by CIArb Irish branch) considered the possible introduction of an arbitration scheme for family law disputes in Ireland akin to that currently operating in England and Wales.  Michael Carrigan, our arbitration expert, was delighted to be welcomed as one of the three speakers for the event.

Shane Costelloe, Associate Solicitor, shared commercial insights at the UL Entrepreneurship Society on legal issues for start ups.

The Step Journal, the global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning, published Claire Touhy’s expert commentary, “Trap for the Unwary”. The article focused on Ireland’s forced-heirship provisions for spouses, which included insights on how succession laws could have serious implications for clients and advisors, if overlooked.

Furthermore, we continue with provision of client training in various public, insurance, banking and business sectors, as well as a number of our partners and solicitors teaching at the Law Society of Ireland, Blackhall Place Law School. If your organisation requires training please do not hesitate to contact our Business Development Manager, Maria Gleeson.
