Insurance Challenges in a Digital Age

We were pleased to once again sponsor the morning breakfast networking event for the Insurance Ireland Fraud Conference 2018: Insurance in a Digital Age, at The Convention Centre, Dublin on 23rd November.

The conference included a compelling presentation by Mary Aiken, one of the world’s leading experts on cyber psychology and the inspiration behind the television show CSI: Cyber, who gave fascinating insights into the mind-sets of fraudsters and the challenges faced by society as a whole as a result of the digital age.

We were delighted to meet our colleagues in the insurance industry and to hear about the progress of the Cost of Insurance Working Group from Michael D’Arcy, TD, Minister of State at the Department of Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform, and from Mr. Justice Nicholas Kearns on foot of the findings of the second and final report from the Personal Injuries Commission.  It was also clear from the presentations of both Craig Mullish, Detective Chief Inspector within the Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED) (London), and Mary Aiken that the level of prosecutions in this jurisdiction are, in their opinion, insufficient to provide an effective deterrent to fraud.
