We were delighted with the success of our recent seminar and workshop which we held at our offices on Friday 8th June 2012. Sarah Ryan, Solicitor, Family Law Unit and Donal Creaton, Partner, hosted the event. The seminar was presented to social workers and management of the Health Service Executive in Limerick, Clare and Tipperary working in the area of childcare. Donal Creaton introduced and chaired the event. Geoffrey Shannon, solicitor and author of “Child Law” presented an overview of the proposed legislation to place the Child First Guidelines on a statutory basis and the proposed Children’s Referendum, to be held on the 10th November 2012. Ross Aylward BL, a leading barrister working in the area of childcare, discussed the issues facing social workers in preparing for and partaking in court applications in relation to child care issues. Sarah Ryan provided an overview of the practical issues facing social workers in the local courts. Thank you to all who attended and supported the seminar. If you require any further information on childcare law please contact Donal Creaton or Sarah Ryan.
