Our team have enjoyed the last six months of fundraising, charity events and supporting business and communities. In addition to our sponsorship of the PNLA, our Transition Year Programmes and being shortlisted for a Chambers Ireland CSR award, sponsorship of the Best Large Business Award in the Limerick Regional Business Awards 2019, the Run in the Dark, Headway Ireland fundraisers, and our industry experts contributing and presenting at various events, we set out below a snapshot of some of our team’s efforts.
Pieta House
Rachael O’Shaughnessy maintains her commitment and leadership in driving support for Pieta House and everyone here continues with our longstanding support. Our volunteers assisted at the Pieta Cycle in Raheen on 29th September, we enjoyed a visit from Peadar Collins who spearheaded Pieta’s #SpeakFor15 campaign, we had volunteers manning the Rotary Remembrance Tree in Bedford Row Sunday 1st December, and staff supported Pieta’s CEO Kieran O’Brien’s 100km in 10 days for Pieta House during 14th to 27th October. Grace Lee, Trainee Solicitor, donned the boxing gloves and punched up a storm in the Blackhall Fight Night “Brawl” on 3rd December in aid of Pieta and Movember.
Limerick
We are delighted for Limerick Institute of Technology on the launch of their new LIT Law Society on 1st October. Caitlin Love was pleased to attend.
We cheer on and continue our sponsorship of UL Bohemian RFC. Our own Ed Kelly and Darragh O’Grady play with the men’s senior team.
We are also sponsoring the Ladies Senior Team who we have just kitted out in new gear.
Neil O’Gorman and Sean Fitzgerald showed off their defending skills on the field instead of court as part of the Limerick Solicitors Bar Association team playing in the Lawyers European Football tournament.
Well done to all who took part in the Limerick Lawn Tennis Club Business League and our own team Nicola Hackett, Yvonne and Sandra Griffin.
Bravo to Grace Lee, our trainee and Captain of the Limerick Camogie Senior Ladies Team who led her team to the semi-finals of the Munster Camogie Senior Club Championship .
Cork
Shane Costelloe, Corporate and Commercial, supported the #corkpinkweek business breakfast at Collins Barracks to raise funds for vital cancer care, the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund event on the Agri-Food Sector in Cork, the Cork Chamber launch for the Cork Company of the Year Awards 2019, as well as the Cork Chamber Agritech breakfast briefing.
Dublin
Robert Bourke completed the Abbot World Marathon series. To date, just over 1,200 men and women have completed all six world marathon majors. He placed in the Boston Marathon 2020 and this year ran the Tokyo Marathon, the Great Limerick Run Marathon and the Cork and Dublin Marathon! Congratulations to Piarais Neary too on completing the Dublin Marathon in October. As well as focusing on employee fitness the Dublin office have started a nutrient rich, wellness boosting, “Cook Off” competition! The first challenge was “Soup Week” and they did not disappoint!
More Runs and Christmas fundraisers
In addition to the Run in the Dark we sponsored (along with Metis Ireland and CPL) and took part in the 5K River Run on 1st November to help kit out more volunteers for Limerick Suicide Watch’s River Watch. We were delighted that the fundraising target of €5,000 was exceeded and total funds raised reached €7,500, kitting out over 15 volunteers. We also volunteered as stewards for the Limerick Suicide Watch #ShineALight event along the Shannon on 10th October, as part of Limerick Mental Health Week.
Giving the gift of warmth this Christmas, we took part in and sponsored refreshments again this year for the Limerick Sports Partnership’s Blanket 5K on 1st December in aid of local homeless services.
Emma Brewer organised us all and coordinated presents for the children who will be recipients of Novas gifts this Christmas.
We joined Liveable Limerick in the “Santa Dash” for fun runs along O’Connell Street on 17th November in aid of Novas and the Peter McVerry Trust.
Gala Christmas Charity Fashion Show on 4th December was a hit for our staff who attended and supported this fundraiser for our charity partner Headway Ireland.
We were pleased to support the Cecilian Musical Society’s December musical, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, in which our Trainee Solicitor, Gillian Hunt, took part. Well done Gillian and congratulations to the Society on reaching their 100 year milestone.
Jennifer Kerins has been busy feeding us up and raising funds for the Hope Foundation through selling us chocolate bars and a cake sale on the run up to Christmas!
